I HAVE to get a new job. I was just writing this little cover sheet for a fax and I had to look up a word in the dictionary to make sure my wording was ok: "The service charge corresponds to the 5/16/03 wire to..." I can't believe I had to look up such a simple thing. The reason my vocabulary/grammar has deteriorated is because I'm surrounded by people who can barely speak English (my new roommie, the assistant) or speak ghetto English (Dante). I love my roommate and I love Dante but I just need to be surrounded by college grads or something. When I was working for Mona and I talked to her attorney and judge friends all the time, my grammar was so much better and I felt way more intelligent. All Dante really talks about is his car, racing, what he wants to get for his car, and what girls are "on" him. We talk about the Lakers occassionally but anything 'intelligent' is me talking and him listening. When I hang out with Don (Mona's former boss), Denise (his assistant) and Mona, we would always talk about current events, politics (they're strong Democrats but thats ok... the other attorney who hangs out with us sometimes - Brandon - is a strong Republican and we're gloating half the time), sports and what clients Don feels like taking on (Scott Peterson doesn't have enough money for Don to consider taking him).
Freakin A... The assistant just came in here with a check from Vivendi Universal and she was telling me - we only have 'Universal' set up. (See my journal entry on 5/21/03: I NEED to do a huge ass memo for this job... 1. Yes, for the 20th time... Vivendi Universal is Universal Studios and it really doesn't matter who you put down as the 'name', just be consistent. ) Need to find a new job, need to find a new job... It's sad when you'd rather find a new job than deal with an assistant you have.
My weekend was fun - went up to Santa Barbara again for my friend's graduation. It is so fun hanging out with her friends up there because they are so nice. There must've been at least 30 people sleeping in the house the night before graduation - we fit 8 people into one little little room (the girl who lived in there moved out that morning), Amy's roommate Jenn had her family sleeping in the room she and Amy shared, Justin had a friend in his room, the other Amy had her room to herself, and there were a couple people sleeping in the living room. Grace and I didn't get up to Santa Barbara until about 10pm Saturday night because we stopped by my friend's housewarming party first for some free food. My friend's roommate is a fireman so there were a bunch of firemen at the party... yum, and I don't mean just the food :). We went bar hopping in downtown Santa Barbara and didn't get to sleep until about 5am. Amy's graduation was at 9am so the Amys and their families left early while all of us were still sleeping. I woke up around 8:45 and no one else was up yet but we were planning on going just in time to see Amy walk so it was ok. At 10:30am, Rob (Amy's boyfriend) was still sleeping and I didn't know how to wake him up so Justin starts poking him with the wrapping paper core and we made it just in time to see the Amys walk. I took a ton of pictures (some with a digital and some with my disposable) - yay, Jennifer, I can finally develop that camera and give you the second part of your Christmas gift - the picture we took at that dinner! There was a barbeque after the graduation and then Grace and I headed back to LA so we could make it in time for Father's Day with our families.
Stan must have a girlfriend or something... He hasn't been bugging us about work, he hasn't talked to Eileen about being late and that cheap ass is shopping at Nordstroms and Banana Republic.
