Maybe I'm just paranoid but ever since I took my car into the dealer two months ago, I've been having more and more problems. My car has too many miles so its not under warranty anymore. Do you think the dealer would intentionally do stuff to your car so you'd have to go back in? I had all these repairs done two months ago, then I had to replace some chip on my engine two weeks ago and now my ABS light is on and the Brake light is flashing. What the hell?? I can't afford to fix every damn thing on that car and I didn't have problems until after I went to the dealer to get the check engine light off!

Andy messaged me Friday night - "Come over! We're having a party." He's the king of not giving anyone any notice. Anyway, I went, and Asha was there - I hadn't talked to her in months. Everyone assumed I was an engineer major at UCLA cause I knew all of them so well. I had to tell them, no, I met Andy through his ex-girlfriend Denise and I met Asha through Andy. Asha was saying she didn't know Andy was dating Denise until a couple months after they got together, when she saw them kiss. Shocked the hell out of her. :) Denise and I used to go to all the UCLA games with a group of people and one day, she just introduced him as "This is Andy. He's going to go to the games with us." That was it.

The whole incident made me think about how I meet people and who stays in my life. I've been friends with Mike the longest and we met in junior high band. I don't even think we were that close back then. I switched school so often in elementary school that I didn't have the same classmates/friends for more than a couple years. I started being friends with Nozomi after she started dating Mike. I thought Leila was my best friend through junior high and high school but obviously not, we didn't even bother keeping in touch after high school. I was friends with Grace because she was Mike's younger sister and I didn't get to know Grace's best friend Amy until a couple of years later when she started hanging out with me, Mike, Nozomi and Grace and now Amy is one of my closest friends. We had so much in common we just started hanging out together.

I met most of my current friends in college, most of them freshman year. Jenny was the first friend I met at UCLA because her friend Noelle was in my orientation group. I think we all went in UCLA as history majors but graduated as something else. Steph lived down the hall in Sunset Village. Steve lived next door and we became friends after my "is that the Hut guy?" comment - he had a picture of Darth Vader on his door and I'd never seen Star Wars before. We became friends with Jennifer and Monica after they started making fun of me for that also. I picked up a few more friends later on in college but I don't talk to/see them as often.

I've only picked up 2 significant people in my life since I graduated college. Dante and Eileen. Eileen and I met at work, had a lot in common, got an apartment together and we've shared an office since I got my promotion a year ago. I see her the most so she knows everything going on in my life. Dante just came into my life because I had been flirting with someone else and I chose Dante over the other guy. We became boyfriend/girlfriend a week after we met and everything just happened way too quickly in that relationship.

What are the factors that allow a person into your life?? How does a person go from just someone you see on the street to an acquaintance to a friend? What compels you to care about another person enough to entrust them with things that mean a lot to you? Damn, I'm starting to sound a lot like Carrie Bradshaw... I forgot Sex and the City was on last night too so I missed it. This is why I need TIVO! :)

One of our clients is the executive producer for a show on the Lifetime network and this actress sent us her headshot and acting resume to forward to her. Eileen started bitching about why the client can't produce a show with 4 hot guys instead of all those women. "Lifetime: The Women's Network has shows with mostly women, and now that Spike TV: The Network for Men has shows with mostly women. Where do we have to turn to find shows with MEN??"

I found a new job for all you guys - Chicken Sexer.
