CBS's rescheduled 'The Amazing Race 6' lands weeknight time period, resurgent series to premiere November 16 - ahhhhhhh, finally!! I can't wait for the show to start up again even though I'll probably love last season more than I love this season. Have the first 4 seasons of Amazing Race been as good as last season??

I was coding a client's credit card bill (breaking down charges into categories) yesterday and he went to New Zealand last month. We usually talk about how our clients have all this money and they go on the boringest trips to Hawaii, Hamptons, London, etc... nowhere super exotic like Tahiti, Fiji... and they don't do anything but sit/walk around spending money. Anyways, this client goes to New Zealand and I see Zorb and Skydiving on his credit card bill. Now THAT'S a vacation!!

I am soooooooo pissed at UCLA right now... the dumbasses who work in Murphy Hall. I've been waiting a month for the CPA Board to approve me to sign up for the exam and I get a letter today - you do not meet the education requirements... WTF??? The letter said that I didn't get a degree, according to the official transcripts. I look at the enclosed transcript and it was dated 7/26/00 - I graduated in December. I KNOW I filled out that stupid transcript request form right but I guess these braindead idiots thought I finished before Fall 2000. When it says, "Last Semester Attended" you write the last semester you were there right?? I always put Fall 2000 when asked when I graduated. Now I have to call the CPA Board and tell them what happened and hope they don't take another freakin month to review my app after the UCLA admin idiots send it again. I have to go to Murphy Hall and show them what I DON'T want them to send - do I have to pay them again for this shit?? Freakin idiots... I shoulda known. My roommate works as one of these people at LMU and you already know what I think of her.

Anyway, to update you guys on everything that has happened this past month...

Dante moved out, yada yada yada... I have more money in my pockets now because everytime he asks me for money now, I say, "Don't you have money? You can't pay me back the money you owe me but you have money to waste on rent." That gets the job done everytime. I also find myself more annoyed at him... you know how you look at someone and you think, why am I associating myself with this idiot?? Yeah, I feel that a lot. I hate how he plays music loud in the car (so FREAKIN GHETTO). I hate how I have to explain how to do stuff step by step with him and I already KNOW he's going to mess it up. I got a new computer last weekend (XP finally! whoohoo) and all day at work, I'm worried about how he is messing up my computer here at home. I hate how he's too good to put the cap back on the toothpaste and how he uses a ton of toilet paper each time (you can get by with 5 squares or less to wipe your ass, he just lets it roll). I have premium toilet paper too (Cottonelle), not the shit you steal from work. I hate how he leaves food out and I have to throw it away because it goes bad... I should stop... I want to finish this post sometime within the next hour! Oh - but I need to add this - I didn't talk to him for a week after he was telling me how he watched Fahrenheit 911 and he believed that it was all true. I don't need to be around stupidity like that.

D: "I saw a picture of Bush shaking Osama Bin Laden's hand".
ME: "So? I have a picture of Mike Tyson biting some baby's ear off. Does that make it real?"
D: "But they wouldn't put it in a movie if it weren't true."
ME: "Yeah, Hollywood doesn't make shit up. All those movies out there are TRUE stories. They wouldn't do a 60 Minutes news report based on false documents either. You're right. Michael Moore doesn't exaggerate at all."

God, I'm so glad I'm surrounded by intelligent people at work. People who I can hold a decent conversation with. Most of the time we're laughing about something or other. I've spent way too much time with co-workers lately. We go lots of places together - Knott's Scary Farm, Yankee Doodles (for pool, foosball, etc), the mall, and of course - drinking after work. I'm not too much of a drinker though - 1 strawberry daquiri is enough for me.

Remember how we used to be up early to get to amusement parks before they open (8am)? And stay til it closes(2am)? We got to Knott's Scary Farm at 7:00 pm (they closed the office early because the partners knew a bunch of us were going to Knott's Scary Farm and because they wanted to go to the Dodgers game that night) and by midnight I was sooooooo tired. We went into one last maze and I was just screaming at anything because I was exhausted. It didn't help that Jon kept telling the people there to scare "these 2 girls" (me and Marilu).

Work is going so well. I can't believe I'm finally at a place where I am HAPPY! I don't dread going into work, I go in on Saturdays sometimes just for the hell of it because a couple people are going in too and because I always have something to finish up. I can't believe how busy this job is! I have so many little projects pending but I never get to them because there is so much work. We got another new client in the last couple weeks - a model - Victoria's Secret, Sports Illustrated, blah blah blah - good for her, but the one thing she's done that I am SOOOOOOOOOO unbelievably jealous of her for is she was "the girl" in a Justin Timberlake video. Lucky girl.

The client with that 3.5 million dollar life insurance check has been driving us nuts lately. Her husband died a couple months ago and he was the earner in the family. Their house is paid off, she has millions in jewelry, furnishings and artwork, they have millions in investments and the bank, she gets about 2 mil a year from his royalties, etc... and she's worried about running out of money because there is no new income. She was asking me how much the messengers cost, we cancelled a couple phone lines just to save money. Oh my god - the problems of the rich. We were talking about this and Caymi says, "What?? Run out of money? Thats every week!!"

There has been nothing "Must See" good on TV lately. Just the usual shows. I did add Desperate Housewives to my TiVo though - thats the only show I can't wait to watch. Joey is ok, but not something I'll drop everything to watch. In fact, when The OC starts up again, I might even skip Joey. Apprentice (go Kelly - just cause he's from UCLA) and America's Next Top Model (go Norelle, because Republican Kristi was eliminated already) are good too but I don't look forward to every show the way I did with The Amazing Race. Arrrrgh, I'm still waiting to find out when that show is going to start up again.

All right, thats it for now - I need to go get some In 'N Out so I'll be digested and ready to work out at 10pm. Some Red Bull will help too.

I was trying to finish this entry with a long ramble before I posted it but forget it, it's been too long and so many things have changed... it's easier to just start a new entry.

Ok, so now the biggest check I've held in my hands (to deposit) is $3.5 million. (It was a life insurance check though).

I've been crying a lot the last two days because Dante is moving and although I know it's good for me, I will miss him a lot... I also realized just how little I mean to him and that gets me depressed because I have given him everything I could, I sacrificed a lot for him and in many ways I ruined my life for him, and he shows his appreciation by treating me like shit and putting everyone else priority over me.

Ok, so who wants a Gmail invitation?? I have 6 to give away... Are they still doing this by invitation only??

Nice to get all that out...

I swear, if I didn't have a job I love so much at an amazing company, I'd have gone postal by now. (do people still use that expression, go postal?)

I'm sure every company is like this but when you were at an awful place like my last job, you appreciate things soooo much more. It's so nice to work around young people!! My last job was all old ladies and cranky partners. I've always said I wanted a work life like Ally McBeal and a friends life like Friends... 1 out of 2 is better than nothing. We don't have that unisex bathroom but do automatic flushing toilets count for anything? :) We've been doing that "going drinking at the bar downstairs after work" thing a lot lately. A bunch of us are planning on going to a male strip club soon - we just have to find one that isn't far from us and is open on Saturday. We do the beach volleyball thing every Thursday, but I think we're gonna change it to bowling now because I don't think we'd have enough time to play a couple games at the beach after work before it gets dark.

It's not just the people at work, I love what I do and I love the clients we have. I love joking about these people too - how some of them can't do anything on their own except charge on their credit cards... Sometimes when I'm explaining to people what I do, they ask, "they pay people to do that?" (pay bills, etc) and I say back, "if you're rich enough, you can pay anyone to do anything." One of the clients I work on pays someone to come in once a week and CHANGE LIGHTBULBS!! Can you believe that? :) One of my favorite parts from Ocean's Eleven was in the beginning when Topher Grace was talking about how his business manager wants him to write checks to Brad Pitt because he can take it as a "research" deduction and checks are receipts. Thats what we do! Whoo, shout out.

A bunch of us were in the kitchen at lunch today talking about reality shows and we got into that show - "Fabulous Life of..." and some people were saying it makes them depressed watching that show. Lorena and I were like, "that makes you depressed but working on our client accounts doesn't??" Lorena said she has held a $30 million check in her hands... I think the most I've had is that $540,000 from earlier this week, but I've only been at this job 2 months :).
How many times do you have to tell someone something before you have a right to be pissed off?? "GIVE ME SOME ROOM WHEN YOU PARK IN THE FUCKING DRIVEWAY!!" Aargh!! I'm sure I've ranted about this a million times but we have tandem parking here, they gave us a long driveway and my roommate parks where no one else can get behind her. We fit 3 freakin cars in the driveway all the time and she has to take up the whole space?? If she can't fit in the first spot like she insists (which is impossible because I park my car in there all the time, Dante zips into the spot in his Mustang, my ex roomies have fit a 4-Runner and a big ass Mitsubishi Montero in there), then she should be parking her crappy ass dented/scratched up GEO PRIZM in the street instead of me trying to find street parking all the time for my newly repaired Audi A4. It's not like parking is so easy to find around here. She doesnt even have to fit her car in the first spot, just pull in a little bit... but the bitch doesn't even try. I've told her a million times to park her car right. A couple weeks ago, I just told her straight out, I just spent $2300 fixing my car, I don't want to park that shit on the street. She was good for a day! Whoo, I think that was too much to ask. I came home late one night last week and I couldn't find any street parking, so I called her to move her car up. She wasn't even home!! I ended up parking WAYYYYYYY down the street and she knew I was so pissed off because she kept calling me apologizing... that didn't teach her though. She did it again tonight!! I couldn't find parking tonight, I drive by MY SPOT and there's her car taking up the entire driveway again. I came up and asked her AGAIN if she can park right. She said, "I'm leaving in a couple minutes" and 30 mins later, she's still here! I told her tonight, "I don't care if you're leaving soon, I'll move my freakin car when you need to leave, I just don't want to have to walk down the block after dealing with traffic on the way home from work." We'll see if that gets into her dumbass head.

Aargh, next time this happens again (and I KNOW there's gonna be a next time), I'm just gonna go off... hmmm, maybe I need to delete this post so there's no evidence...

1 episode of Amazing Race left!!! The finale of Big Brother (go Drew!) is also next Tuesday. What am I going to do after next week? The Apprentice just feels weird this season because everyone is a freakin nut.

Lets see what Frank Abagnale Jr. (Catch Me if You Can) has to say about the Bush memos...

CBS, I love you for reasons I can't say on this public online journal, but I'm so disappointed in you. You've been screwed big time twice this year!! Once by my boy, Justin Timberlake and again just now by these memos.

Ooooh - this just in - Newly Unearthed Bush National Guard Memo...

Just a heads up on today's Oprah show... amazing.

All this money flying around lately!! Gets me depressed. A client got a tax refund check for $55,000 last week... this week another client gets a huge huge check for his producing fees on his show - guess how much... naw, you won't guess... this is for 3 episodes of his show - $540,000 and he gets another check for the royalties on that show - the royalties are for more episodes (5) - $90,000. Clients who don't get as much income are getting huge checks this week too!!

I love this job but it just makes me realize what I don't and probably never will have. I finally got off my ass and turned in my application for my CPA exams but even that won't get me to the level these people are at!

Thats part of the reason why I've been depressed lately... I've been going through that quarter life crisis thing again, this time its been more depressing than ever. Nevermind that 2 of my closest friends are getting married and I lost my "back-up".... I make good money here (comparatively) but it's still not enough! Freakin dumbass girl who rear ended me last month wasn't insured!! Her policy lapsed 2 years ago so I have to pay my deductible and the rental car even though I wasn't at fault... her 'insurance' even had the nerve to send me a letter asking me to describe the accident! Every time I think I'll be ok financially "after this paycheck" something comes up beyond my control. I can't live my whole life like this!!

Anyway, I'll get more into all that later - can't blog too much while I'm at work... been so busy but I'm still loving it!

TWoP Forums - Hottest Olympians - this is the BEST message board on the internet! :) After watching Aleksei Nemov and the way he handled the bullshit gymnast judging, I'll add him to my list of hottest guys... I first saw Alexander Popov sooooooo long ago and he's so cute I still remember him. Oh my god, I just googled him and found this... I think I'm gonna faint heehee. Alexander's nickname is the Russian Rocket and I think Aleksei's is Sexy Aleksei... Why hadn't I noticed him before??? He's totally classy.

I haven't had time to read the whole message board to find new meat :) but I'll get to it eventually. This is just too fun.

Sooooooooooooo much shit to talk about - It's been a long time since I wrote in this journal... I'll sit down later tomorrow night (technically, tonight) and just write.

Bush Family Gathers for Wedding in Maine - DAMMIT!! This week just gets worse and worse... George P. Bush is married now. He was such a cutie 4 years ago at the Republican convention. Lucky girl.

I was rear ended on the freeway yesterday when I was trying to get to work after a doctor's appointment. I was 2 exits away, I saw traffic coming up so I slowed down and came to a stop behind the car in front of me... then BAMM! Some car hits me, I hit the car in front of me and she hits the car in front of her. The accident wasn't bad but now my car is running like shit. It sounds like one of those crappy fixed up cars (why the hell do people do that to their cars voluntarily?? All that noise... GEEZ). My car is sooooo sturdy though because the car behind me was scrunched up in the front, my car was only scratched badly (she did dent the trunk though) in the back, and barely scratched in the front. I can say that my brakes are awesome. Argh, it's been like 3 weeks since I got it out of the shop and its going right back in the shop. I'm not mad about the accident (they happen) but I'm mad that I have to go out of my way now to get the shit fixed... and because I don't have a rental car on my policy, I have to go to a body shop and have them say my car is undriveable before I can go rent a car and make the other insurance pay for it... and it's Saturday so NOTHING is open until Monday... that means I'm stuck home for the weekend :(.

I've had a couple of crappy weeks lately. At least I'm tan now... I've been at the beach every Saturday with Amy the past 3 weeks and I've finally started to tan!! Thank you SPF 15.

Oh - by the way, there's a party at the Santa Monica beach (by the Jonathan Club) tonight at 8pm... some cute lifeguard invited us but Amy had to go home and I'm not going to that by myself. Lifeguard party :) closest thing to heaven in Santa Monica.

FOXSports.com - Lakers trade Payton, Fox to Celtics -WTF WTF WTF WTF... Alright, thats it for me. I might still watch but only if there is absolutely nothing to do.

Monday, August 02, 2004

I found something at American Eagle I HAVE to have!! Boy Briefs - I want the pink ones... check out what it says on the back of that one :)...

The sun completely hates me... I've been out at the beach so much this summer and I'm only semi-tan, if tan at all... My barometer for "tanness" is if my mom yells at me. She hasn't yet :(. Amy and I go lay out at the beach for 4 hours every Saturday and I've been playing volleyball there Thursdays after work... I think my sunblock works too well. I bought that new Coppertone Ultrasheer Sunscreen and I love that thing!! It makes your skin so soft, it doesn't feel like you have sunscreen on because it's not oily and sand doesn't stick to you. I need to go get the SPF 15 instead of the 30 though. Last time I went to Target, they were sold out of all the Ultrasheer Sunscreen.

Red Bull is amazing. It keeps me awake in class so you know thats powerful shit. You know what's better than Red Bull? FREE Red Bull! They moved their headquarters to a building across the street from us and they've been giving us a free carton every week. Last week, I took one on my way to class just in case the one I drank before I left for class wasn't enough... turns out it was enough, so I put it in my fridge for later, just in case I felt like working out. Dante took it before I got a chance - he loved it and told me to get more... they're freakin expensive if you buy it anywhere! Everyone in our office is addicted to it so it's hard for me to have more than 1 or 2 a week, so I went to Costco to get some - $31.95 for 24 cans!! Can you believe that? I also saw them on sale at Ralphs this week - $6.99 for 4. That's no sale!!

Speaking of Ralphs, I was there last Sunday and I must've not had any Red Bull in me because I wasn't thinking straight. There's a ghetto Ralphs I go to sometimes because it's close - everytime I go, this one guy always starts flirting with me, etc. He looks EXACTLY like Erik from O-Town (shoot me for knowing that) and I thought he was kinda cute so when he asked me for my #, I gave it to him... Afterwards, I was thinking, 'the guy freakin works at Ralphs! What did I do that for?? I'm supposed to talk to guys on my level.' but it was too late. So this guy calls me later that night at like 11:30p and wants to "hang out". Yeah, I wasn't born yesterday... plus I dated a player so I know... "hang out"?? pfft. He calls the next night at 11:00p... I tell him I'm tired. He calls 2 nights later at 10:00p, I'm busy. The next night at 10:00p, I was taking a nap cause I was so tired from volleyball. I know I told the guy I had an on/off boyfriend but I don't remember if I told him I lived with the guy... I'll do that next time he calls. I've just been avoiding his calls the last couple days. Maria and I figured out what our problems were - we aren't going to give anyone a chance until Bruce tells Maria he met someone or Dante tells me it's OVER over. (It's been over for a while, but not OVER over)... I think Bruce is waiting for Maria to tell him she met someone, so that one is gonna take a while too.

Brandy's Sneaky Marriage Secret - haaaaaa... I hate Brandy.

So-so day today - one of our big clients died last night and another big client got his job back after begging and begging (and for that job, I'd beg too)... Oh, and the Daily Variety is reporting that Will Ferrell is in talks to star in a movie another client wrote... even if the movie script sucked (which I hope it doesn't, because our clients are better than that!), Will can make it funny and make it huge.

Grand entrance for Shaq in Miami - they're having so much fun in Miami I'm jealous. It just feels like the party ended and its starting somewhere else but you're not invited :(. Are we supposed to be excited we got Mr. Flopper?? There are rumors Karl Malone is going to Miami too... geez, I remember 1 year ago when I hated Karl Malone and now I actually like the guy. Maybe these Lakers can change my opinion like that because I'm not looking forward to this season at all. I might have to jump ship. I talked to my friend Maria for the first time in years (we used to go to Laker games together with binoculars trained on Derek Fisher and Rick Fox and 'the cute guy in the brown suit in the front row') yesterday and she told me she jumped ship already. "Where ever Derek goes, I go. Sorry, I gotta support my man."

You gotta love a work environment where someone asks a partner about his new baby (born last week, Adriana (the girl I work together with in our little teams - she's the bookkeeper, I'm her assistant) won the "Bacon Bowl" - a little pool we had going around the office on when the baby would be born. The partner's last name is Bacon, hence, Bacon Bowl... we had fun suggesting baby names to him) and he replies that last night the baby ate at 11, woke up for feeding time at 3 and woke up again at 6 and "those are my feeding hours anyway so I didn't mind". When he said that, a couple people started cracking up (with our dirty minds) and he finally realizes what he said and he was mad that he didn't think of that in the first place. "I'm usually the first one to think of that!!" How many bosses (another partner, not Bacon) would be cool with his assistant sending out an e-mail to everyone in the office (to let us know when he won't be in to sign checks) and ending the e-mail with a WHOO-HOO!.

I think I've been spending way too much time with people at work because I had a dream I was making out with one of my co-workers. We spend all day at work together in the same office and every Thursday, we go to the beach to play volleyball (they started doing that at our office - we can leave at 5:30 and carpool to the beach to get in a couple games.) He's an awesome guy, great volleyball player, etc... I'm just not sure of his preferences... It was weird for me on Friday because I kept getting embarassed thinking about my dream.

Oh my gosh, how addicting is the Amazing Race?? So addicting I had a dream last night about Dante and I being on that show! That is the first time I watched it (because of Allison from Big Brother) and I am hooked. I don't have any favorites though because Allison was eliminated already (hated her but felt sorry for Donnie) but Brandon might be taking over Justin Guarini's role as Sideshow Bob (especially now that Justin cut his hair). I've also been watching Big Brother - rooting for Drew - he's the major eye candy and they're usually my favorites.

Wow, so much to cover but also, so much work to do... I leave you with this rumor - again, it's just another rumor and I refuse to believe it until JT is waking up next to me. Heehee.

I'm alive, I'm alive!  Sorry, I've been just wayyyyyyyyy too busy to post lately.  The Blogger "create posts" page even looks different now.  I worked on a post last week but I never got a chance to finish it so I'll do that later.

The property company that owns my apartment building is repiping the place this week so I don't know when I'll be able to set my computer up at home... by Thursday at the latest but I hope they finish sooner.  I love my TiVo but I need my computer access at home too.  I'll probably be bored and go to Target 4 times this week instead of my usual 2... :)

Can't believe Shaq is gone and all we got is 3 mediocre players... I woulda wanted a superstar in return for Shaq - a Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, et.al or a young up and comer stud or BARON DAVIS, but naw, we get Lamar Odom (I don't care how "good" he is, he's tainted by the Clippers uniform), Brian Grant (was he the one who couldn't guard Shaq in the playoffs?  oh wait, that was everyone.) and Caron Butler (WHO??).  The appeal is gone.  Derek Fisher is leaving too and I doubt Rick Fox will be back. I'll still be a Lakers fan, but I'll start watching more Miami and New Orleans (love me some Baron) games now.

Which freakin girlie men are offended by Arnold Schwarzenegger's comment??  Get a sense of humor, ladies.

Post more when I get a chance - I gotta get ready to leave for class...

FOXSports.com - Coach K in 'serious discussions' with Lakers - finally, one good thing I've heard about the Lakers this off-season.

Did you guys hear that tabloid rumor about Rick Fox cheating on Vanessa Williams and Vanessa is filing for divorce?? Dammit, Rick, you were my last hope in "real" men! Although the tabloids have been right a lot lately (Britney and her boy, J.Lo getting married, etc), some rumors still turn out to be false (Justin and Cameron breaking up), so lets hope its not true.

I haven't been blogging lately because I have nothing to complain about... And you guys don't want to hear about how wonderful my job is, etc. This is a complete 180 from a month ago when I hated my job like I've never hated anything before. I'm trying to figure out if I like my new job so much because I went in with a positive attitude or if my company is just that awesome. When people are trying to sell you on a job, they'll tell you anything but it's not until you're in that you realize what the company is like. On one of the interviews with one of the partners, he told me that this company is different from most companies because it's run like a family operation. That partner is the son of the main partner and another main partner is a family friend. We're starting this new thing next week where we can leave a little early on Thursdays and meet up at the beach for volleyball. Last week one of the partners had a party at his house and he sent out an e-mail inviting all of us.

I was talking to the receptionist earlier today and we were talking about how nice the partners were, how pleasant the work environment was. People don't walk around with scowls on their faces - what a concept! I feel lucky just to even work at this place. The turnover rate at this co. in the last 2 years is 1 person... (Daniel and I figured I was #18 to leave at my old job in 2.5 years).

I bought a thank you card to send to my head hunter but I can't find it! I guess the best thank you I can give her is to tell all of you, if you're looking for a new job (accounting), e-mail your resume to Linda Laufer, Interface Financial Recruiters, linda@interfacerecruiters.com. She'll meet you once at a place convenient for you and then she'll call you up whenever there is something available for you, she'll give you interview tips and what those companies like to hear (she knows most of the companies she sends you to well). She is amazing - I just sat back and she gave me more interviews than I could ever imagine and with good companies too! She negotiated for me too - I'm such a pushover I need someone to fight for me. I've learned from experience, if a company is willing to pay a referral fee to a head hunter, they're not going to be cheap on everything. I remember talking to my friend Debbie (she lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvves her job too) a year ago and Debbie told me that if I'm looking for a new accounting job, go through a head hunter. I ran into Maria's sister at the mall the other day (I haven't talked to Maria in a year!) and she told me Maria quit Deloitte and she's working at DirecTV now and she's so much happier. I think we all just need a change of environment. I know Dante is happy with his fairly new job and my roomie's gf is happy with her new job at Sony. Join the club! Get a new job! :)

I'm still alive... been soooooooo busy!

I've had 2 CPA review classes a week the last 2 weeks and it's exhausting!! Tomorrow Jennifer and I are taking this interior design class with the Learning Annex. I can't go shopping because I don't get home until 10pm most nights. Last night my roommate and I went to Costco because that was the only time I was going to be home after work this week.

Bare with me while I complain about how crappy my last job was and how much better this new job is. I promise I'll try to make this the only time I complain!

I don't blog at work because I have a million checks to cut and the first round of bills is always the hardest because you have to figure out which ones are personal charges and which ones are business expenses. Credit cards are hell too because you have to code all the charges and these clients have 3-4 pages of charges per credit card! These clients are big big big time clients, people you guys have actually heard of :). Like I was telling Dante last week, our broke-est client right now is richer than Stan's richest clients. I've already deposited two huge residual checks - $107,000 and $238,000. I was telling my mom yesterday about one of our firm's clients - he made $40 mil last year (just off fresh work, not including residuals) and she didn't believe anyone can make that much! This is the difference between my old job and my new job... Stan was trying to convince his main client (a TV actress, series regular on a drama) to get a Hyundai as her new car to drive around in. She gave her Benz SUV to her daughter because she needed a car to drive. First of all, a working actress in a Hyundai?? That's freakin embarassing! At this new job, they just told a client to extend his lease on his 2001 Porsche for another 6 months... so he can get the 2005 ones when they come out! I was wondering why his wife was driving the 2004 Porsche and he was just in a 2001 one until they explained it to me. Usually its the wife that drives the older car while the big shot husband shows off in his better car.

I love my new job - the company treats us all so well... so good that I felt like I was a neglected kid who finally found a loving family who adopted me. I'm so appreciative of every little morsel I get! It's the little things that make a difference. At my old job, they had the cheap Bic pens, they wouldn't buy us Post-its or white-out so if you wanted that, you'd have to bring it in yourself. At this new job, the supply closet is stocked with Liquid Expresso pens, tons of Post-its in every size and 2 different kinds of white-out (the liquid ones and the correction tape ones. I used to call my old firm a "Third World firm" on AIM with Steph but now I realize how right I was. At this new job, everyone (down to the receptionist) has business cards, at my old job, I was a business manager who the clients contacted whenever they needed something, but I didn't have any business cards.

I used to message everyone to "kill me now, take me out of my misery" at work... now when people complain to me, I can't say anything. :) Dante tells me I love that job because it's new, it won't last long, but my first week, these co-workers took me out to lunch and this girl was telling me, "there's not much to complain about here, I just complain because that's what I do." The work environment is just so much more positive at this firm - people are actually friendly and they have lives!! Whoo, families to go home to, etc. At my old job, people were at the office allllllll the time, til 8-9pm because they have no lives. Stan was in the office Monday through Sunday.

Stan has been calling me up lately asking me if I could go in to work "AS A COURTESY"... am I right in assuming "AS A COURTESY" means, no pay?? Even if he paid me for the hours I went in, I wouldn't because money doesn't mean THAT much to me to have to put up with all the dumb crazy shit I left. I have been so busy lately, why would I waste time going in for free? I have classes, studying, and friends! The main thing that got me off my ass to find a new job was because I got pissed off when Stan had a talk with me a couple months ago - I basically got the feeling during that "talk" that Stan didn't want me to get my CPA, etc. and who wants to work for an unsupportive asshole? I'm sorry Stan, I should put this low paying, high stress job priority over studying for my future. Let me work my ass off so I can make the little little amount I got paid from you guys for the rest of my life. Yeah. Stan used to give me shit all the time about leaving early to go to my CPA review class... at this new job, they tell me, just leave whenever you need to, just make it up later. They take in consideration when you come in early, when you leave late - just put in your 8 hours. There were so many times in my 2.5 years I went in at 7:30/8am because Dante had to use my car - they would still give me shit if I tried to leave a little before 6pm.

So anyway, I got a new cell phone (Verizon!) and I'll be cancelling my old one next month, so I won't have to deal with the dumbass calling me and leaving me 5 minute messages of just crap. If I haven't given you the new number, let me know. I tried to email everyone to let them know but I might have missed some people.

ARGH, if Dante would get off the damn computer at a decent hour, I can write about how much I loooooooooooooooove my new job. As it is, I'm so tired right now I gotta go to bed. I actually care about being on time to work, about looking nice, etc now.

It's been a long week - new job, class Monday and Wednesday and I have my stupid ex-boss calling me every day asking if I can go into work "AS A COURTESY" (Translation: NO Pay) Yeah, right. "As a courtesy", please stop calling me - I don't freakin work for you anymore!

kiss my bitter ass - I just spent the last hour reading this site - it's sorta like punk'd - you sorta see what celebs are like in real life... Jennifer Lopez, Brandy and Julia Roberts show up here a couple times for being 'difficult' and not tipping well (if they tip at all).

First day tomorrow! I'm excited and nervous but I know I'll be so much happier.

Friday, June 11, 2004

WHOOOOOHOOOOOO!! Last day... will post later cause I have a bunch of shit to do.

Writing memos for all the stuff I do for all my clients because, BIG SHOCKER, they didn't hire anyone yet. Also doing time sheets - hate these things! Hate them so much I'm thinking I should have taken that production company job instead. Jay had the right idea - all clients are on 5% income... I heard that Steven Spielberg's business manager is on 5% with him and it came out to a couple million a year and the business manager asked him if he wanted to have a different arrangement instead (have a limit to what the business manager gets per month/year) but Spielberg said it was cool.

Counting down to my last day of my 2.5 year sentence... and these two weeks have been the longest of my life. I just want to get out of here and everything that bugged me before about this job is still here, some things are even worse than before.

"Tell Me About Yourself": The Toughest Question in the Interview - Career Advice Article - this article was on MSN today - yeah, it woulda helped if I saw it a month ago! I've been answering that question wrong this whole time. I don't think my new place asked me this question or she might have just found something else she really liked about me because my standard answer to this question was so off base.

RIP

This just put a damper on my good couple weeks. :( I want to go to the public viewing just to pay my respects but none of my Republican friends are in town. I remembered when Nixon died. I was in high school and a couple friends stood in line all night to go to Nixon's viewing in Yorba Linda but my mom wouldn't let me go because I had school the next day. You guys will never believe how sheltered I used to be.

Reagan was larger than life - when I think about the 80s, the first thing that comes to mind is Reagan's image. In high school, some teacher had us do a brief paragraph on who we thought was the greatest president ever. Half the people said Ronald Reagan (keep in mind we were in Villa Park, one of the most conservative cities in Orange County). What I loved about him was his optimism, his humor and his conviction in his beliefs. Everything is so negative these days, its sad. He is part of the reason we remember the 80s so nostalgically, the era of optimism. I was too young to understand everything he did when he was in office but as the years progressed, I gained more respect for the man. He was an econ major too! The only thing that makes me feel better is that it's the end of "the long goodbye" and he is in a better place now.
After watching last week's Punk'd, I hate Brandy more and I lost a lot of respect for Mekhi Phifer.

Brandy and her brother were pulled over by a cop and she tried to use the "You know who we are! You're black!" "We're good kids, you see us on TV every week" and the "Nice cops would just let us go" shit. I think she also said "I have millions of dollars" at one point. Yeah, you have millions of dollars, so why don't you get insurance for that BMW 745i?

They had someone break Mekhi Phifer's window on his car and then they pretended to look up his info and he had a thousand dollar ticket that he supposedly didn't pay. They were going to take him in for that. He was acting like a jerk to the cops and then this girl who worked in the store he was at asked him - do you need a loan? He says, "I'm rich baby. I don't need loans." The only redeeming thing about him is when he was insisting to the cop he paid the ticket. "I gave autographs to all the ladies behind the window!"

I can't reiterate enough - when they punk'd Justin Timberlake (he owed the IRS $900,000, they seized his house, his cars and even his dogs!), he was nice to them, tried to figure out what was going on, etc. He probably had $900,000 in his back pocket but he never brought that up. I didn't like Justin Timberlake then, but after that episode of Punk'd, I started loving him.

2 WEEKS IS 2 WEEKS, DAMMIT!

F-it, I'm trying to be nice and suggest I can work part time on nights, weekends if he needs me to but he still wants a week or two more. There is no way I'm gonna jeopardize that job for this crappy place.

More on the resignation - I was sitting in my office on Friday doing work and trying to come up with the resignation letter, trying to get the nerve to tell Stan I quit. Then, Stan leaves early so I just left the resignation letter on his chair, with a handwritten note on top saying, "sorry I didn't get a chance to tell you this in person, etc". I always put stuff he needs to see/sign on his chair because every where else in his office is like the Bermuda Triangle.

He calls me up on Saturday when I was on my way to Orange County and he's telling me he was expecting it, that work wasn't getting done, that 2 weeks isn't enough time for him to get someone in... basically telling me I was a bad employee in the first place and that pissed me off. If "work wasn't getting done" its because I spend all day looking for his freakin files that he loses in his office!! That just made me more happy I was out of here.

If I'm such a bad employee, then don't ask me to stay a couple weeks longer. Who the hell hires someone if they say I can't start for a month because I'm giving my current company a month's notice. If I were the person doing the hiring, I'd say, "NEXT! No job for you!" in the Soup Nazi voice.

I started actively looking for a job when he had a talk with me about not putting my CPAs priority over sitting here in the office keeping people company when they were trying to figure out how to do something (which is what I basically did if I stayed after 6pm during tax season). It just sounded like he didn't want me to get my CPA, to advance in my career and don't we all love working for bosses like that?? Mona was so supportive of me when I worked for her. She wanted me to go to law school, etc. She was always inviting me to events (she was president of an asian bar association one year) so I could meet judges, make connections. Her friends have a lot of influence politically... bad thing was, she was a die-hard Democrat :). Compare that to Stan - he spends his time writing letters to newspapers, etc complaining about UCLA coaches... it's not like he has any influence because he doesn't even contribute to the school!! If you're donating millions to the school, they might listen to you. If you donate a little bit, they'll take your input in one ear and out the other, but if you don't even donate anything... WTF.
First of all, thank you eraine for sending me the Justified DVD! (she used to have a blog!) I've been in a good mood lately because I've been able to watch Mr. JT whenever I want.

Also, Jenny gave me a cute Mrs. Timberlake shirt for my birthday last week. Sooooo cute and the writing is pink! I love pink. My mom took me shopping last weekend (we were at the mall from open to close on Sunday!) and I bought this really cute Tommy Hilfiger underwear in the same pink/green as my journal layout. Tommy underwear is the best - it doesn't sag like the Victoria's Secret ones do so you don't get panty lines.

Elisha Cuthbert to Marry - if you can't have the man, I guess his best friend is good enough :). Congrats to her though.

I'm still sore from my workout Tuesday night - it's worse today than it was yesterday. I guess I went overboard trying to regain my muscles.

So I gave Stan my 2 week notice last Friday and he tells me 2 weeks isnt enough time. "Some people give a month's notice." Yeah freakin right. The only person I know who gave a month notice leaving here is that girl Felita and she was leaving to move back to Hong Kong so it wasn't like she had another job to go to. Daniel gave a week and a half notice and Bhanu gave them a week notice. I told him 2 weeks notice is standard and I stood firm on that. My head hunter Linda told me to tell him, they wanted me to start right away but they understood I had to give 2 weeks notice. Stan said some shit to guilt me into staying longer but whatevers, he's had me as an underpaid employee for 2.5 years longer than he should have. I've been here 2.5 years and you just don't pay college grads, esp. UCLA grads, what they paid me. When I started here as an assistant, I didn't care as much about the salary because I was living at home and driving a car my parents bought for me. Three months after I started, I moved out and took over the lease on my sister's Audi and I've struggled ever since. I've been pissed because they promoted me to business manager (handling accounts on my own) after I was here for 6 months and they waited a year after that before they gave me a raise. I think our assistant was making the same or a little more than me for a while there. At this new job, I have way less responsibility and they're paying me way more starting salary. One of the other head hunters I went to before I got this job called me up yesterday to see if I was still looking. I told him I got a new job and he said that the company I'm going to is a good firm, they'll take good care of me. He has no reason to lie/exaggerate to me. I understand that Linda (my head hunter) and Liz (the lady who hired me) would exaggerate to get me to take the job (Linda - so she could get her commission) but a head hunter that has nothing to do with this transaction telling me that this is a good company, means a lot. Linda asked me if my current company wanted her to find them a new employee and I told her the company is too cheap to pay a finder's fee and I wouldn't want any of her people stuck in a dead end job like this. It'll be hard for her to sell the company to anyone looking for a job.

After 2 months of interviewing and getting nowhere, right after I get this offer from the business management firm, the other place I interviewed at right before I got the final ok, calls me up to give me an offer. The business management firm is offering me a little less than I wanted but it is still more than I'm making now. The 2nd place - a production company with innovative technology, etc - is offering me $10k more than I make now and more than I was looking for. I didn't like the place as much though because I miss the whole downtown feel and the production company's offices are like any of the offices in Hollywood - looks like a warehouse. The accounting department is only 5 people and I know I'll get sick of them quick. The overall company is doing great though - they're pioneering the digital age when it comes to movie distribution but since some theaters are just being built and companies just don't want to switch to digital (from film) equipment until they have to, they haven't exploded yet. The company started 2 years ago, they had 60 people... now they have 120 and by the end of next year they want to be at 200 people. It's expanding and its exciting to think about but I think I need the business environment right now. I didn't even think I did that great at the interview because he was talking the whole time. I'm going to do the stupid thing and choose the better work environment over the money. Kick me next year if I regret it. :)

Went to the gym!! It's sad... every time I go to the gym, it's documented on this journal :)... yeah, I don't go very often.

I have so much more to write but my arms are tired right now. What a day, what a day.

Stupid "10 Days of Madonna" on MTV Hits... Are the 10 days up yet?? I haven't been able to wake up and watch music videos for the past week and it's throwing me off track. The Comcast channel change a couple months ago still have me off track and I haven't been able to memorize the new channels yet, except for MTV (58). I can't even tell you what #s the other channels are on. Steph and I had all the old channels memorized but I haven't had a chance to get the new numbers straight.

Free Resignation Letters Samples - IQUIT.ORG - check out the last couple ones...

Don't use any of those though - The best place for resignation letters is I-resign.com. Daniel and I are going to have the exact same letter, except I was a little nicer in mine and I added: "I have learned a lot in the past 2 1/2 years." and "I will also work next weekend if you want me to, to organize
the desk and do some memos."

Way to ruin someone's 3 day weekend, huh?

I GOT IT! Now I can get excited. And now I have to figure out how to give my 2 weeks notice. Stan is gonna be pissed and he's going to take it personally. I'm going to give the 2 weeks notice tomorrow and I don't know what to say but I'm sure Stan is going to piss me off at some point during the day and that'll make it easier on me.

Enjoying my day off... checked out a couple apartments and went to Target. I was good though - I didn't buy anything. The interview this morning was cool but the business management co is my first choice and while I liked the company and what they do and how they're expanding, my heart wasn't in it. I only know business management accounting and thats different from regular staff accounting stuff.
MSNBC - Kobe gets good news on eve of court appearance - she might have lied to detectives?? hmmmmmmm...

I literally screamed when I was watching the 24 finale Tuesday night. Usually when I watch TV by myself, I'm low-key. I've had tears in my eyes when I watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the OC Finale, but that's the extent of it. When Jack grabbed the axe in the finale, I just couldn't watch and when I heard the axe come down, I screamed.

I think I messed up my scalp this weekend. I washed my hair Sunday morning before I went home to Orange County and my mom was going to the hair salon so she took me along with her. She hated the "highlights" in my hair (I write highlights with the " " because I did them myself and I didn't know what I was doing - I've given up trying to use the L'Oreal Colour Experte because I've done it twice and messed up twice) so she wanted me to get them done in a salon. You're not supposed to wash your hair before you color it because your natural oil is supposed to protect your scalp. I don't think my four hour oil buildup was enough to protect my scalp cause it was hurting like hell. Now its flaking like crazy. I had dry scalp before, but it was never as bad as this!

Oh yeah - Soul Plane sucked... Dante bought the bootleg 2 days ago and we haven't finished watching it because Dante fell asleep and as soon as he did, I turned back to my TiVoed soaps. The movie is so stereotypical but I don't know why I expected anything else. The movie is supposed to be funny! I love Tom Arnold but this movie was just dumb. I don't even know if the movie has a plot! Waste of $10.
I gotta move.
I gotta move.
I gotta move.

My new roommate hasn't moved in yet and she's already pissing me off. If I'm paying the ENTIRE rent for this month (and making myself broke for the month because of this), I expect to be able to come home and park in the driveway without having to come up and ask her to move her freakin car so I can park either in front of or behind her. We can fit 3 cars in that driveway and she always parks where no one else can park behind her. I expect to have the freakin apartment to myself a couple days a week without seeing her the second I come home from a long day of work at a job I hate. If you say you can't move in until June 1st and make me responsible for the whole rent, DON'T COME BY EVERY DAY!!! It's midnight and she's still freakin here!!!

I should have just let the Korean dude move in May 1st. I wouldn't be broke right now and he wouldn't have given me any problems.

The business management firm in Santa Monica gave me an offer! The people seem awesome and I love their office building. The boss looks like George Hamilton. They're finishing up the background check and they'll let me know tomorrow morning. Until I get the final OK, I have 2 more interviews lined up for tomorrow. I'm taking tomorrow off for the hell of it and my other headhunter decided to take advantage of that. Both those interviews are production companies. They're supposed to call me with the final word on the business management firm tomorrow morning but I have to go through with these interviews because I've already scheduled them.

Argh!! Stupid Minnesota and their hack-a-Shaq... This game better end before 9:00 because the second it hits 9, I'm turning to 24!! The Lakers never make it easy, dammit... just kick their asses and we can relaxxxxxxxx.

Thursday, May 20, 2004

I read the funniest thing on the TWoP Forums yesterday... re: 24...

Oh, no they DI'INT!!!

Oh my God! They killed Sherry! YOU BASTARDS!!!

I can't believe they killed both Sherry and Nina this season. I'm more concerned about Tony not coming back next season because he faces the death penalty for what he did to save his wife (treason). I was sooooo touched when Jack stuck up for Tony on the phone with the guy in charge. Tony looked super cute this episode though, great lighting.

2 interviews this morning... both went well I think. The second interview was for this rich family and it was my second interview with them - I met one of the sons today and he was super cute!! 29 years old, has an MBA. He likes Bush too!!! Their main concern at that job was that I'd get bored and leave and because they found me through a head hunter, they'd have to pay her and it's not worth it if I don't stay for a couple years. I guess that's why I haven't been as successful in my job search this time around. I've gone through a head hunter for most of my job interviews and they find me jobs I'm qualified/over-qualified for but because the companies need to pay the head hunter, they don't want to take a chance of me being bored and moving on. Anyways, I was kinda iffy on that family job - I like their office/office location (Brentwood) but there are only 5 people working there! It might be worth it if the cute guy was working there everyday but he travels a lot and he doesn't know if he wants to continue doing this job (goal is to retire at 31).

I really liked the first company I interviewed with this morning - they do business management for entertainment clients (like I do now) and they're a small firm (20 people) but they all do business management (my current co. is 16 people but only 3 do business management). Their offices are so nice - the Water Gardens in Santa Monica (lunch Steph!) and the people seem really nice. The first lady I met with loved me (according to my head hunter), I took an accounting test and met with two partners and there is one more partner I need to meet with on Monday. I was at that interview for 3 hours! Hopefully things work out, they're my first choice. The lady knew I had a 2nd interview at that other job and she asked me not to take that job without letting them know first. I think thats a good sign! :)

'Plane' could have steered Bryant clear of trouble - hindsight... The story is Kobe was offered a cameo role on "Soul Plane" that was filming the exact day he was in Colorado. He turned it down because of the surgery and Karl Malone was offered the cameo.

The movie looks soooo stupid but if Karl Malone is going to be in it, maybe its worth watching. I can't believe I actually said that... a year ago, I hated Karl Malone so much! Now that he's a Laker, he's cool with me. Like they say, "love the jersey, not the player." I would still love Rick Fox even if he wasn't a Laker though. First time I noticed him was in that dumb movie Eddie (Whoopi Goldberg) and I was so excited when he signed with the Lakers a year later.

Top 10 list: worst celeb baby names - Can you believe someone is running around with the name Tu Morrow?? Talk about messing up your kid for life! If you don't know already, I'm naming my kid Justin if I ever have a boy... unless my husband's last name is Time or something weird like that. Don't want the kid to get beat up.

I finally caught up on a lot of TV last weekend. I watched the Oprah from last Thursday with the Shrek 2 cast... the whole time Cameron Diaz was on, I was muttering "luckiest girl in the world" (Dante didn't appreciate that - he said, "You've got me and she has a Timber-worm" and I corrected him - "It's Timber-snake"). I love my clear skin (thank you Accutane) but I'll take her acne anyday if it came with Justin Timberlake and the $10 million Shrek 2 paycheck for a week's work. Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and Julie Andrews were also on. At one point Oprah asked Melanie Griffith about her nickname for Antonio and she says, "my very large Spanish cat" and while the audience reacted and Antonio looked embarassed, Mike Myers was telling his wife (who was sitting next to Melanie), "Honey, say something nice about me! Say something nice about me!" He just seems so fun to be around but that could just be his public persona... Shrek 2 looks good though - if I can find someone who wants to see it, I'll go. Maybe I'll drag my 12 year old niece to see it. That's the benefit of nieces and nephews, they're up for going anywhere.

I also added Chappelle's Show to my TiVo season passes because the season has ended for most of the shows I watch. Dave Chappelle's stuff is soooooo offensive but soooooo hilarious. My favorite skit so far has been The Racial Draft - blacks picked Tiger Woods #1, Jews drafted Lenny Kravitz #2, Latinos - Elian Gonzalez #3, Whites wanted Colin Powell but since he isn't white, the blacks made them take Condoleeza Rice too and the Asians drafted the Wu Tang Clan #5.

Why do I always feel like I'm getting jipped?? And I'm never on the other side of any jipping! I paid $1200 this month for my apartment (I usually pay $600) because we were waiting for the manager to approve my new roommate before she moved in and the manager was gone from April 28 to May 4 so he didn't get back to us until May 7th. My roommate had already paid rent on her current place so she wasn't planning on moving in until June 1st and that makes me responsible for the entire rent this month. Since I doled out the $1200 I thought I'd be able to have the apartment to myself this month, that I would be able to walk around in my underwear IF I wanted to, etc. My old roommate still had some stuff at the apartment the first week of this month. I gave my new roommate the key to the apartment last week because she gave me the security deposit (which I had pre-paid to that lying, stealing roommate the end of last month to get her out) and now my new roommate and her gf have been over at the apartment the last 4 days painting, etc. I guess just wanted another week to myself but oh well... I'm too much of a wimp to say anything and it's not that big of a deal. I just feel jipped as usual.

I have a million more things to post but right now I'm just feeling irritated. 1) Does anyone honestly think someone else would be interested in listening to their bullshit ALL DAY? 2) If you're gonna talk all day, TALK!! Don't mumble - thats more irritating!

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!

I have to calm down before I post more... but all you Laker fans can thank me for single-handedly saving the Lakers. Right before Duncan made that shot with 0.4 seconds left, Dante went to the closet to put on his Laker jersey and I yelled at him - "You're gonna jinx them now!!" (He jinxed the Raiders by putting on a Raiders shirt during the Super Bowl 2 years ago just to piss me off). So Duncan makes his shot and I'm yelling at him to take off the freakin jersey! Right after he took it off, I told him, "OK, now they're going to make it because you took off the jersey." I didn't actually believe it myself but damn, I look like a genius now.

Let me say it one more time - OH MY GOD!! Right after Derek made his shot, 3 people IMed me the exact same thing - "HOLY SHIT!"

Yahoo! News - Schwarzenegger Signs Calif. School Degrees - now I remember why I wanted to go back to school. Too late now, I don't think I can enroll and finish by the time he's out of office, unless he wins re-election, but if he doesn't that would suck. I think he will, but you never know. Yeah, I would have another degree and it would help me out in my career, but it wouldn't have Arnold's signature.

I wonder if Arnold Schwarzenegger signs the CPA degrees too...

AMAZING 24 hour! I can't believe any TV show has the budget to have 2 freaking fighter jets... I love the Tony/Michelle stuff - Tony loves Michelle so much, it's always my favorite part of the hour. Poor Tony, the next hour is gonna suck.
New layout! Not as cool as the old one but I had that one for a long time... I might put that back up, but I'll try this one for now.

Archive pages work now, at least. Tried out the new comment thing on Blogger but I don't know what's wrong with the posts before May 6 so whatevers, I'm pooped. I gave up and I put the old comments back.

Monday, May 10, 2004

Argh, now that I figured out how to do archiving, permanent links right on this blog, I can't get it to look right when you click on the permanent link thing (the time published).

I really like my CPA Review: Audit class... everything makes sense to me!! I'm going to try to do the homework, we'll see how that goes. I have really good notes from my Audit class at UCLA too (I took it with Gardner) so I'll look through that too. I thought the instructor was awesome before last night's class but he said something to make me like him more... People were trying to convince him to let us go early because there was a Laker game and he starts talking about TiVo - telling everyone they should get it. He has it too and mentions how you never watch anything on time anymore and how it takes 40 mins to watch an hour long show, etc. I don't know what I ever did without it. I like coming home whatever time I feel like coming home and knowing I have The OC ready to watch on TiVo when I'm ready. I remember Jenny coming over to watch Sex and the City one time and she was hurrying to get to my apt... when I opened the door, she asked if she missed much and I didn't know what she was talking about. I had paused it when it first came on so it was ready whenever we were.

Word of the Day on Yahoo! today is: LOQUACIOUS. It means talkative... I've been using that word way too much today to describe someone.

And lastly, word of advice to anyone with roommates, especially random roommates: TRUST NO ONE!! Arrrrrrgh. Who should I believe? The mail lady who described 'the incident' and my ex-roommate to the T (including the way she talks) or the ex-roommate who just keeps denying everything? How would the mail lady know this shit unless it happened just recently and unless she had interaction with her??
In honor of tonight's series finale, there are my 13 favorite Friends episodes... (I can't narrow it down anymore). I've seen all of the episodes at least 10 times, they will be showing it forever in syndication and I still bought the DVDs. These people are marketing geniuses! They add a couple deleted scenes to every episode and that makes people go out and buy them, just to see those scenes.

1. The One Where Rachel Finds Out - Chandler accidentally lets out the fact that Ross liked Rachel and when he realizes this, he rubs his temples... Joey says, "Yeah, keep doing that. It'll turn back time."

2. The One Where No One's Ready - the sight of Joey wearing all Chandler's clothes and doing lunges while "going commando"....

3. The One With the Embryos - I loved the game where Joey and Chandler win Monica and Rachel's apartment.

4. The One With All the Resolutions - My brother still cracks up when he sees Ross with leather pants down to his knees, in some girl's bathroom, with lotion and baby powder all over his legs, trying to get the pants back on and then hitting himself in the head cause his hands slipped.

5. The One With the Cop - 3 words: PIVOT PIVOT PIVOT!

6. The One Where Ross Got High - I liked the part where Monica and Ross were yelling out each others' secrets to their parents and then Phoebe, Joey and Rachel get in on the action. Joey's was: "I want to goooooooooooo!" and Rachel realized she wasn't supposed to put beef in the dessert truffle. Oh yeah - when the rest of the guys found out the pages in the cookbook were stuck together and Joey immediately accuses Chandler.

7. The One Where Chandler Can't Cry - Reese Weatherspoon guest starred and at the end of the episode, she was telling all of them off... to Ross she said: "I throw myself at you and you say no? How gay are you?" It was the way she said that...

8. The One Where Chandler Doesn't Like Dogs - They're playing a game where they have to name all 50 states in six minutes. Monica forgets 14 states, Rachel forgets 2. Chandler asks Joey how he did... Joey: "Say hello to the new champ of Chandler's dumb states game." Ross: "Wow, how many have you got?" Joey: "Fifty-six!"

9. The One With the Holiday Armadillo - I loved the way Ross said "I'm Santa's representative for all the southern states... annnnnnd MexicO!" in the armadillo costume. I love that little kid from Big Daddy. Joey bursting in with a Superman outfit was hilarious too.

10. The One With Joey's New Brain - Ross was funny playing the bagpipes, but Phoebe was beyond hilarious when she started singing along. You can see Rachel trying hard not to laugh. I also loved when Joey ran in and started talking about DOOL, and the others didn't know what he meant... "Days of Our Lives"... The way Joey says that is funny, like you should already know what he meant. I thought only internet nerds knew "DOOL" so I started cracking up.

11. The One With Joey's Award - I liked seeing the Days and Passions people, plus I loved Joey's actions after they announced that he didn't win.

12. The One With the Rumor - Brad Pitt! There was a scene when Brad Pitt was looking for someone to give him a high 5 and Phoebe runs to hug him... she says, "It's just like I always imagined it would be." I want to use that line... when I meet Justin Timberlake!

13. The One in Barbados - I loved Joey and Ross's argument about whether Days of Our Lives has a "THE" before it. Ross says yes, Joey says no. Some girl tells them she doesn't have a TV and Joey asks her, "You don't have a TV? Where is all your furniture pointed at??"

Still can't sleep!! I got American Wedding from Netflix this weekend so I'm watching that right now.
I was so caught up in the Michael Vartan lookalike last week, I forgot to add that there's a Will Ferrell lookalike in the CPA class too - he sits close to us and he looks like Will Ferrell trying to be serious. I was soooooo pissed off at work today, more pissed than I usually am (half my day is wasted looking for stupid ass files Stan loses, which are in his office half the time, then he gets on my case about getting shit done), so on the way to my CPA review class, I put on the Justin Timberlake CD. Then when I got to class, I sat next to Michael Vartan lookalike (his name is Kyle) again and all was good in the world again. He promised to wake me up if I started dozing off :). I didn't get too much sleep last night so I left work early to have enough time to buy a Mocha Cappuccino Blast at the Baskin Robbins in Kerchoff. Those babies work wonders!! kept me and Maria awake in our Econ classes. They still work. The CPA review instructor wasn't a UCLA prof and I'd usually think I was wasting my time sitting in a class a non-UCLA prof taught, but this guy was young and he was awesome.

Dammit, I think those Mocha Cappuccino Blasts work too well... I'm not sleepy at all.

Yahoo! News - Top Stories Photos - AP - First thing I thought when I saw this was... Voltron! I still remember how my brother and I had the action figure for Voltron when we were living in Louisiana and the yellow leg fell off into this dark 'scary' gap between two cement walls... neither of us wanted to reach into that gap and get it so we ended up with a one-legged Voltron. It's amazing the stupid little things you remember from your childhood.

My neighbor freshman year in college - Jeffer - said he wanted to have a statue of a real sized Voltron in his backyard. He was smart as hell too - I'm sure in a couple more years, he'll be living in his mansion with his Voltron statue in his backyard.

I spent $100 last weekend on Chanel stuff and I totally love it... some things are just worth the outrageous prices you pay. I got the foundation (looks really good and it doesn't feel like you have anything on) and two lip glosses - Blizzard (when I'm feeling conservative) and Tickled Pink (it may look weird in the container and on the screen but it actually looks really really good when you put it on).

I haven't cared what I look like in 2 years because this job just makes you not care... no one is gonna see me everyday but these old folks. I'm trying to get back to the days when I spent an hour getting ready every morning so I could look good and I'm starting by replacing all my makeup. I need to toss out all the old stuff I had because I'm sure they're full of bacteria by now!

This interviewing is tough! I have never been rejected so many times in my life! I'm overqualified for some jobs (the huge business management co in Century City) and I'm underqualified for others (the video game co, the porn mag co, and the pineapple co). Most of those huge non-financial co jobs want someone who has done straight accounting and my business management skills are different. There is no question I need to get my CPA in order to really advance professionally. I have another interview on Friday, this time with a financial co in downtown LA. I miss downtown LA. My head hunter told me I'm definitely qualified for this job and to just handle this interview the way I handled the porn mag co interview because that lady told her she loved my personality but I just don't have enough experience. I think the job I was most depressed about being rejected for was the Century City business management co. I totally loved the atmosphere of the office building, etc. It's like a classier downtown LA.

Found a roommate... my current roommate and I want to get everything done ASAP so we don't have to worry about stuff but now the stupid mean manager is out of town until May 4th. My roommate is moving out April 30 and she wants her security deposit from this new person but the new person wants to make sure the manager approves her before she moves in so she won't have to deal with moving back out. I'm trying to hold on to this Korean dude who definitely wants the apartment just in case this girl changes her mind and I'm gonna feel so bad when I have to tell him, sorry you can't move in. I'd like to get that done ASAP so he's not waiting on this one apartment. Why must there always be a problem?? (-- George, on Seinfeld) story of my life.

LAPD Receives Threat Against West LA Mall - this is nice to hear... especially cause I'm sitting here in my office looking at the mall! Westside Pavilion is the closest mall to the Federal Building. I was telling Eileen I thought it would be the Century City Shopping Center instead because they're more high profile and she says, "Then your boy [the Michael Vartan lookalike] will get hurt!" Oh no!! I just met him!

I've seen 3 firetrucks this morning and a bunch of motorcycle cops. Everytime we hear a siren, all eyes go towards the window. Steve told me if I see Jack Bauer running around, then I should start feining sickness (I already did that last week though!). Even if its not a bomb, the terrorists could release a virus at the mall and even if I don't go to the mall, people in this building go to the mall for lunch and they're going to bring it back here! If I see anyone with a bloody nose today, is it too late for me? Would I be infected already? How close do you have to be to an infected person to be exposed? Oh my god, too much 24! Why would they target Westside Pavilion anyways? It's not that popular of a mall. Have non-UCLA people even heard of it?

Hi Lucy

I'm looking for a roommate asap. Your area looks really good. Looking to move up from Manhattan Beach where I'm living right now. Male actor with money originally from downunder. Allergic to cats. Good at changing lightbulbs.

Matt

Should I call?? OK who wants to meet my new roommate? Dante will be madddddd :).

I'm so giddy right now... I sat next to the cutest guy yesterday in my CPA review class. I'm so giddy I'm not as pissed as I should be about everything that has happened to me in the last 12 hours. Yes, the guy is that cute. He was taller than me, even with my two inch heels. He's nice too... works in Century City, graduated college a year ago. Who says accountants are boring and ugly! I have a reason to look forward to class now - this is what I miss about college... meeting new people. Oh my god he was cute. I feel like a 12 year old girl...

When I got home from my CPA class, my roommate's boyfriend was parked in our driveway just enough so I couldn't park behind him... that pissed me off because our driveway is tandem parking but we can fit 3 cars! I had to park down the next street and walk. When I went into the apartment, my roommate tells me, "I'm moving out May 1st no matter what so if you can't afford it on your own or you can't find someone, then you need to move too." Nevermind we're gonna be breaking our lease... She said she has been looking for someone to move in but she couldn't find anyone. I knew of only 2 people that came by to look at the place. I believed her because I figured it was close to summer, UCLA students are moving out instead of moving in, etc... I didn't think she'd just leave without finding a new roommate first but never underestimate anyone I guess. I went on craigs list and put up an ad last night - 2 people called and I got 3 emails already this morning!

Then my manager calls me. I thought he was cute when I first moved in but he's been an ass lately so forget him. I told him I was just going to call him and tell him my roommate is moving out and I told him what she said. He told me that she called him this morning asking for an application, etc. Then he says, "I need to talk to you about something else also - Dante. We know he's been staying there, I don't care what you say." I'm pissed off he added that "I don't care what you say." because the last time we talked about Dante (March 2003), he had already planned to move out that next week. He came up cause my last roommate got pissed off she heard him talking to the neighbor downstairs about how fat she was so she called the manager and complained that he was staying with me. He just moved back in 6 months later. Anyways, I just didn't feel like dealing with the manager so I just said, "how much is it to add an extra tenant? $120? fine, I'll add that on my rent." And then the manager adds, "If she can't find someone, you're liable for the full amount." No shit, Sherlock. Wish I had more than freakin 4 days notice. At least I don't have to deal with any stalker boyfriend drama anymore. Whatevers, I'm moving as soon as this lease is up. I want a one bedroom anyways so I don't have to deal with shit anytime someone needs to move out.

If I knew what my job situation would be like, I'd be in a better position to decide what I want to do. Whatever job I get next will pay at least $8k more than I'm making right now and with $8k more a year, I can afford paying an extra $300 rent/month - I'm looking to spend about $900-950 for a one bedroom, I love this area so I'd stay around here. I have my porn magazine co. interview tomorrow morning and my headhunter wants to talk to me about another job opportunity downtown.

Just got another email from someone off craigs list - she's 45 and a liberal... um...

I have 2 legit female potential roommates - both are 26 and work around here and they sound down to earth. 1 is ok with Dante staying with us because she said she went down that road before. I haven't heard from the other one yet.

This is the cutest American Eagle Outfitters underwear (the white one)... here's the close-up... click on the picture to see the back. This is cuter than my Abercrombie & Fitch underwear that says "unwrap me" across the ass. :)

I have two interviews coming up after the video game company... accounting positions for a pineapple co. and a well known porn magazine co. :) What am I gonna do if I get that porn co. job?? I think the company is Fortune 500 and I know they will pay well but what am I gonna tell my mom? It's a challenging job too - I'd deal with a lot of their international stuff and I'd learn a lot. It's in Silver Lake but the commute won't be too bad because traffic is going the opposite way for me. The pineapple co. is offering a lot more money than I'm making now, but it's in Westlake Village! Thats like a 2 hour commute both ways and I have to deal with the 405. It's a cash analyst position and it sounds interesting but I don't know if I'm qualified enough for that job. I guess the video game company is my first choice if all the offers are around the same figures. It's in Santa Monica and it would only take me 20 mins max local streets to get there. All 3 interviews are for major corporations that have offices internationally. I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side but I'm so sick of working for sole proprietors and small firms, I need a change. I'm just excited to do something different and to get paid more.

I can probably afford to get my own apartment by September (my current lease is up in August). Everyone else I know either already had their own apartments or just got their own apartment and I'm so jealous! :) My current roommate is moving out because she's always with her boyfriend at his place, so it was just a waste to keep paying $600 when she was never at our apartment... so if you know anyone who needs a place to stay in West LA, let me know. They can stay past August, because even if I do move out, its easy to find another roommate to take over my room.

Dante and I have this bet - whoever accomplishes our tasks first wins. If I get a new job before he finishes his 20 days community service, he has to buy me a Tiffany's bracelet. If he finishes first, I have to buy him some exhaust for his car.

First of all, a big WTF re: American Idol... I don't care about most of the contestants this year but it was so wrong to vote Jennifer off when John and Diana are still on the show. George bugs me a little bit with his actions - he acts like he's scared of the air or something.

The Apprentice people were on Larry King Live tonight... I'm going to try to catch the repeat at midnight (9pm is The OC and nothing can make me miss that show), but I heard that Donald Trump offered to pay for Troy's college education, wherever he decides he wants to go. And Omarosa said she lost the Herbal Essences commercial because she didn't get the moan right and that she should have taken lessons from Amy. WTH? That bitch is rude! Hate her, hate people like her. Supposedly she's going to be a paid consultant for the Kerry campaign. Heehee. She can ruin them the way she ruined Kwame.

I had an interview yesterday... this huge company in Century City in one of the towers buildings. I loved the environment. They were offering 8k more than I currently make and the job was specifically to do receivables (deposits). I didn't get it. :( I was overqualified for that job. Thats the first time that has happened to me but I haven't really interviewed in a long long time. If this job that I'm overqualified for pays $8k more than I make now, what would a job I'm 'perfectly' qualified for pay? I have an interview coming up soon with this huge video game company... we'll see what happens but the thing I like most about it so far is that the office is 0.2 miles away from my 24 Hour Fitness. I'd have no excuse!

The highlight of my year is here... the Rick Fox lookalike client is here to sign his tax returns. Tall, dark, handsome with a sexy British accent. I wait all year to see this guy and he's totally worth it.

Monday, April 12, 2004

Oh my god, they're gonna release Knight Rider on DVD now?? I remember watching that show when I was younger but I watched a lot of crap that I didn't understand when I was young.

Sorry about the not posting... its so hectic around here until Thursday... I've been doing everyone else's taxes but I haven't done my own!! And I only have 1 W-2, no interest income. I'm such a procrastinator.

Tuesday, April 06, 2004

My favorite episode of Ally McBeal was on this weekend and TiVo caught it for me! It was Ally's 30th birthday and her boyfriend (Robert Downey Jr.) had a deposition so he was busy all day. She kept waiting for him to show up at the bar where her firm was holding her birthday party and when she was about to give up and go home, he shows up singing "Every Breath You Take". Then he goes off to the side and Sting starts singing. (He was representing Sting in the deposition). Such a sweet moment. I stopped watching the show after Robert Downey Jr. left. It just wasn't the same anymore.

I've always wanted a guy to sing to me on my birthday like that :)... They did it in Family Man too. And if someone could bring Justin Timberlake to my birthday party, I'd love them forever. I'll even settle for Justin Guarini. Heehee.

I spent so much time in college watching Ally McBeal. She had such a successful career life (the firm had an unreal winning %, thats how you know it's fiction) but her personal life was just pathetic... then she meets the perfect guy (I LOVE Robert Downey Jr., have loved him since Only You) and even when they're happily together, she thinks he's going to leave her, just like everyone else has. He eventually does (because of actor related issues), but thats not the point. Is that what's going to happen to me? When I meet the perfect guy, am I going to be paranoid he's going to eventually end up hurting me?

I was watching I Love the 80s Strikes Back a couple days ago and it hit me who my boss reminds me of - BOB SAGET (Danny Tanner from Full House)!! This is partly why I have an unbearable work situation. Can you get more annoying than him?

Jennifer Lopez's Mother Wins $2.4 Million - wtf... some people have all the luck.

And lastly, I wasted about 2 hours last night watching a movie (Holes) just to see Rick Fox at the end for like 30 seconds. I knew he was in the movie but I didn't know when. He was probably on in the beginning too but I missed it.

The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman - Jerry Seinfeld was on The Daily Show last night promoting these long American Express commercials... check out "Uniform" - just like watching a Seinfeld episode. We'll have to check back later for "Hindsight".

Times Ledger - I don't know if this is good or bad... Justin Guarini's CD was part of this counterfeit operation... "Musical titles included N.E.R.D, Guns N Roses, Usher, The Vines and Justin Guarini."

Thats bad because he didn't sell too many official CDs but isn't it a compliment that people considered his CD good enough to counterfeit?

Thats it for me... I'll still watch but no more waiting all week for Thursdays... dammit.
Freakin Apprentice!! That was such a producer set up... there's no way someone would have gone in there with 2 minutes left and signed a freakin lease for $40k, especially cause Nick and Amy were sitting on their ass all freakin night up til the deadline. Who would spend $40k to rent a place out for a New Year's Eve party when you have to clear out of the place by midnight?? I can't stand Nick or Amy. I don't even know who got fired yet and I'm pissed off right now. I love Troy and I like Kwame and Bill. Nick has always been 'eh' to me.

My love for Amy died last week. She had to copy all the other teams' ideas - couldn't come up with any of her own! And then when Trump was asking her if she and Nick were in a relationship, she kept saying, "Nick has a crush on me." She has such an ego problem! Trump asked her who's stupid idea it was to auction off a $300 car rental in Atlantic City (if you're already on vacation, why would you want to rent a car and drive somewhere else?) and it was clearly Amy's idea (as shown earlier in the hour) but in the boardroom, she "couldn't recall".
